Every 30 seconds, someone is bought and sold against their will. 40.3 million individuals are victims of human trafficking worldwide and only 1% are rescued. Human trafficking is not just an international epidemic. Trafficking occurs in our local communities and victims come from every socio-economic background.
January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Throughout the month of January, Greenlight Operation is shining a light on this dark issue through the Greenlight Bulb Initiative. The purchase of a light bulb supports Greenlight Operation’s efforts to combat human trafficking, and displaying your light bulb will help raise awareness about the issue. Join our team as we work to turn red light districts into Greenlight Districts.
Connect with our team in person at CLA, Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the Student Center to purchase your bulbs. Bulbs can also be purchased online, on the GO SHOP page.
Please place this green light bulb in a highly visible area for the month of January. Then take a photo of your green light and post it to your social media accounts sharing the above information about human trafficking. Be sure to tag Greenlight Operation on Facebook and Instagram. Use the hashtags #freetheone #greenlightoperation #endslavery so we can see your light SHINE! Thank you for being a voice for the voiceless!
